MA-1040 Magnetic Analyzer
Trace magnetic content measurement from 0.1 to 1999.9 ppm.
The MA-1040 Magnetic Analyzer (old Buck Analyzer) is designed for sensitive measurement of low levels of magnetic material in a wide range of raw materials and finished products. It provides rapid digital measurement for applications where trace magnetic contamination can influence product quality.
Sensitive magnetic analysis across diverse materials.
The MA-1040 Magnetic Analyzer (old Buck Analyzer) is used to detect and measure low concentrations of magnetic iron, nickel, cobalt and other magnetically responsive material in samples. Trace metallic contamination can be important in applications where even small amounts of magnetic material can affect processing, purity or final product performance.
The MA-series was originally developed in response to the requirements of the abrasive grain industry, where sensitive, repeatable measurement of trace magnetic iron in raw materials was required under practical production conditions.
The MA-1040 combines high sensitivity with a compact benchtop format, digital readout and shielding designed to reduce interference. MA-series magnetic analyzers have also been referenced historically in ANSI and Abrasive Grain Association bulletins.
Designed for trace magnetic contamination testing.
The MA-1040 can be applied to a broad range of materials where control of low-level magnetic content is important to product quality or raw-material evaluation.
How the MA-1040 works.
The instrument detects changes in the magnetic response of a sample by comparing the sensing system against a matched reference.
Matched air-core coils
The MA-1040 uses two matched air-core coils. One acts as the reference while the other receives the sample being analyzed. The coils are energized at 683 Hz, helping reject interference associated with common 50 or 60 Hz line frequencies.
Magnetic response measurement
Magnetic material in the sample changes the balance between the two coils. The resulting signal is proportional to the amount of magnetic material present and is processed before being displayed digitally as magnetic content.
Shielded sensing system
Mu-metal shielding around the sensing coils helps reduce external magnetic interference, while the instrument design also minimizes mechanical pickup and other potential sources of measurement disturbance.
Simple sample measurement
After the sample weight is entered, the sample is lowered into the center of the measurement coil. The instrument then provides a direct digital reading of the measured magnetic content.
